Hopi Ear Candling

Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to help in a variety of conditions such as:

  • Compacted ear wax
  • Dizziness
  • Tinnitus
  • Sinusitis
  • Rhinitis

The ear candles are made from natural ingredients of 100% pure beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns' Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and free woven cotton.  The hollow, cylindrical shaped candles are lit and inserted into the outer portion of the ear.  The mild suction occurs and this action helps to regulate the pressure systems within the head including the sinuses.

The circulation of the herbally enriched vapours within the external portion of the ear, when reinforced by the face and neck massage will form an overall holistic treatment.  Together they sooth irritated areas, stimulate peripheral blood circulation, intensify the immune system, strengthen the lympathic system and stimulate energy points on the external ear.

Following treatment, the practitioner may wish to examine the contents of the candles to establish if further treatments are required.  On average, a practitioner will suggest three consecutive treatments to gain optimum outcome.  Intervals of more than 48 hours are recommended between treatments as secretions may continue to be removed during this time.

Although, most people will be able to enjoy this relaxing and non-invasive treatments, the exceptions are:

  • If grommets are in place
  • If there is inflammation or infection
  • In the event of an allergic reaction to the contents

Please note, the ear candles are not a medical device and therefore do not constitute a guarantee of medical efficacy.  If symptoms persist after a course of treatments, it is advisable to consult your GP.
